Hello to everyone reading this! My boyfriend and I have been together long distance for 3 years, I’m a U.S citizen and he’s a Canadian citizen. We’ve been visiting each other on and off for those 3 years. I have plans to immigrate to Canada, and I will be starting my travels the 20th of September. I know the maximum I’m allowed to stay in the country is 6 months on my passport alone and I plan to extend my stay while I’m there, but how exactly would I go about this to the border patrol?
My boyfriend and I are planning on going the spousal sponsorship route, and I plan to get married to him during my stay, apply for spousal sponsorship, and then eventually apply for a work permit. That’s the only available option for me to be able to immigrate to Canada, we’ve already tried to apply for other visas/work permits but I don’t qualify for them. I’m just wondering how exactly I’d go about this to the border patrol, I don’t want to potentially be turned away (especially not after the long car journey I’m about to make) or lie to them so if I could get any advice on what I should do that would be very appreciated! Thank you to whoever read this, and have a great day/night!
