Hey there - I was wondering, if a person who is on a closed work permit that is set to expire receives sponsorship from a different employer, are they able to work for the second employer immediately under implied status or while their application is processing? I know that pending applications grant implied status to open work permit holders but I wasn't sure how it worked with closed work permits under different employers.

Let me know. Thanks!

Implied status would only allow you to continue working for yourcurrent employer but you are not trying to extend your work permit to continue working for that employer.

I'm actually trying to bring someone on as an employer through the francophone mobility program. I did some more reading on the matter and it sounds like IRCC will grant someone authorization to work while a case is pending sometimes but I'm not sure of the circumstances surrounding. They are already in Canada and it's a viable hire on our part assuming the person isn't going to be waiting 120 days for the application to clear. Do you know if that authorization is commonly granted?

Extremely dependent on the profile of the applicant and the job being offered.
