Hi,

My parents' supervisas are approved on April 30, 2026.

However, they are currently visiting us in Canada with visitor visas - they are here in Canada since late March.

I understand they need to exit Canada and re-enter at point-of-entry to adjust their status as Supervisa holder.

Can they go to the US to travel and come back to Canada to activate their supervisas or they have to return to their home country to fly back?

Thanks!

They can try but there is no guarantee that their reentry will be approved or for a certain length of time

It doesn't have to be a home country.

Guess that should have been taken into account when this was done

It never is, even with a PR card. :)

It is with a PR card. When it comes to visiting Canada going briefly to another country is not advisable and doesn’t show any ties to your home country and could cause concerns that visitors will never return home. Not sure why people don’t just wait until they get a supervisa before visiting.

Can they go to countries like bahamas for 2 days and be back to activate supervisa?

Wouldn’t spend the money going to the Bahamas to try to see if they can reenter on a supervisa. They can try going by land but that always comes with the risk of being denied reentry. It is always advisable to just wait until you get a supervisa if parents want to visit Canada for an extended period of time.
