2023 PR Applications Timeline (Protected Persons & Refugees)

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some insight regarding my PR application timeline because I haven't received Portal 1 yet.

We are an inland PR application (principal applicant + spouse).

Here is our timeline based on the latest GCMS/ATIP notes:

Principal Applicant (me):

• Eligibility passed: September 2024
• Criminality passed
• Medical passed
• Security passed: June 2, 2026
• Final decision (Approved): June 18, 2026
• COPR document was created on June 18, 2026, but its status is still showing "Not Started."
• I have not received Portal 1.

Spouse:

• Eligibility passed: September 2024
• Criminality and other assessments completed.
• Security screening was initiated on June 17, 2026, and the latest GCMS notes show Security: In Progress.
• No final decision has been recorded yet.

Based on these notes, it looks like my application was approved while my spouse's security screening had just started. My assumption is that IRCC may be waiting for my spouse's security to be completed before sending the PR Portal invitation for both of us.

Has anyone had a similar situation where:

• the principal applicant was already approved,
• the dependent's security started afterward,
• and Portal 1 wasn't sent until the dependent's security was completed?

If you experienced this, how long did you wait after the dependent's security went "In Progress" before receiving Portal 1?

For additional context, I recently submitted a webform to IRCC, but I only received the standard response saying that the application is still being processed.

Any similar experiences or timelines would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you. I just checked my email. I requested in June 7th and received July 3rd. And my gcms created in June 26th.

Hello, I'm from October 2023 since June 2024 I haven't had any news, that was when I received the eligibility and the pre-arrip I have a representative and every time we call our representative he tells us that he doesn't know what to wait. What can I do?

I applied April 2023 as a protected Person inside Canada.
I didn't use a lawyer. I applied online.
I got my Status confirmation email July 7th, 2026.
I replied and now awaiting the second email, Praise God.
It has been a long wait, so long that my daughter turned 18 and decided to go back to our home country in April 2026.
Because she left, I had to write a letter explaining why she left and request that she be remove from my application in May 2026. IRCC responded quickly and asked me to fill out the application again without her and the family declaration form too June 2026.

Did you get any news after that? Honestly I'm scared that they might have flagged us for deeper security screenings which I heard it takes sth around 12 to 64 months! I'm so fed up with waiting

Same here. I applied in July 2023. Last month, they requested my spouse's biometric fee receipt, and I uploaded it to my GCKey account the same day. Since then, there has been no update. Under "Review of additional documents", my GCKey account says: "The additional documents you provided have been uploaded." How can I confirm that IRCC has received my documents?

Same here. I applied in July 2023. Last month, they requested my spouse's biometric fee receipt, and I uploaded it to my GCKey account the same day. Since then, there has been no update. Call them tomorrow morning. I called them to check if they have received my pcc and they confirmed its received.

Who issues this card ? If you not served in military then you should have simply sent sent them a letter of explanation , isn’t it ?

Hey everyone, I’m a November 2023 applicant, and I just noticed a ghost update on my GCKey today—the status changed to 'Application/profile updated', but after checking inside, nothing has visually changed. For context, my Eligibility passed late last year, Criminality passed this past January, and Info-Sharing was recently in progress. Does this update mean Info-Sharing is now cleared, or has the Security stage officially started? Would love to hear from anyone with a similar timeline!

June 9: Submitted the requested IMM 5546, along with a Letter of Explanation (LoE) and a supporting document.

~2 weeks ago: Status updated to "We received your documents."

2 days ago: Additional documents section changed to "We are reviewing the additional documents you provided."

My background check also went from "Not applicable" to "We are processing your background check."

in gckey uplode document it show still i need to submet the document when i call IRCC thy say we receve the document
but nothing change in gckey

Your date of submission will remain March 23 and August 25 is May be ur date of linked ur application to gc key ..everyone has similar two different dates like u

Has anyone who became a Canadian permanent resident through the 2023 cohort returned their Refugee Travel Document (RTD) to IRCC and successfully received their original passport back?

If so, could you please share the steps you followed to retrieve your original passport and how long the process took?
