Hi,
I have my PR card renewal application ready, Planning to go out of Canada on June 8th and return on July 13th 2026.
Considering the current average processing times of 28 days ( Which I think may not be for everyone ). What if I submit the application and leave Canada on above dates
and return with my current card that will expire on Dec 01, 2026. My only concern is if the card gets processed and issued before I return, my current card may be invalidated?
And may even be not permitted to board the flight ( If I understood the fine print correctly ).
I am also considering holding the application for now and submit it after I return from my trip in July. I am hoping that will still be sufficient time for processing the new card even with any
unforeseen delays, as I don't want to end up waiting on a new card with my current card being expired or cut too close to card expiry date. Do you think July to December be sufficient time
to process the card?
I have a total of 928 days outside Canada. 1,825 − 928 = 897 days ( Inside Canada as of today ).
I will complete my first 5 year period in July 2026.
What would be your recommendations in this scenario. Thanks in advance.
