Hi everyone,

Hoping to get some insight from those further along in the process or in the same boat.

My wife (the sponsor) received an email today, May 7th, stating: "This letter confirms that your application to sponsor member(s) of the family class, was received by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) on behalf of the following member(s): *******"

The email doesn't explicitly use the word "AOR" but it gives us a UCI and an Application Number, so I’m assuming this is the AOR milestone?

Question regarding Biometrics: When I submitted the application in March, I only paid $1,260 CAD. Since I had previously applied for a Visitor Visa in 2024, I was under the impression that I didn’t need to do biometrics again. I’ve since realized that for PR applications, you have to provide them again regardless.

I have just paid the $85 biometrics fee separately today. My problem is that I’m not sure where to submit the receipt.
  1. The PR Portal (where I originally applied: https://prson-srpel.apps.cic.gc.ca/) just shows "Submitted" and doesn't allow for additional document uploads.
  2. Do I need to proactively send this receipt via Webform, or should I wait for them to request it/send the Biometric Instruction Letter (BIL)?
  3. If you were in this situation, how did you get the receipt to them so the BIL wouldn't be delayed?
I’m a bit worried about the application stalling because of this $85 oversight. Any advice from the community would be greatly appreciated!

That email you received is the AOR. Submit receipt via a Webform. New biometrics is required for PR application even if you have done one in the past.

Thanks for you reply @mandiebraxton

I successfully linked my application and under the application information, I can see the following details:
  • Biometrics:
    • Biometrics Number: *******************
    • Date of Biometrics Enrolment: ***********
    • Expiry Date: *********
Additionally, I can see the following information
Biometrics
  • We do not need your fingerprints. We will send you a message if this changes.

Given this information, I am wondering if I should still submit the biometrics fee and if a new biometric is still required.

What you see are default status which everyone gets at this stage of the process. Biometric is required even though they are saying it’s not required. Those status change as they process your application. The won’t send biometrics request until you have paid. It’s up to you... either pay for it now or delay your application.

Thanks for your reply. I’m looking for some advice regarding the IRCC Webform. I submitted an Outland Spousal Sponsorship application, while I was living in the USA. I have since relocated to Canada and just received my Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR).

I have successfully linked my application to my IRCC Secure Account, but there is currently no option to "Upload Documents" there. So i am using webform to upload the receipt. When filling out the Webform (https://ircc.canada.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1513&top=19) to submit the receipt, I'm stuck on this question:

"Is your application being processed by an office outside Canada?"
I selected "Yes" since I applied Outland, but then it asks:

"Choose the visa office processing your application."
I have no idea which office it is. My AOR email doesn't explicitly name an office.

My Questions: Which option should I select in the webform. Is it normal for the "Upload Documents" button to be missing in the linked GCKey account right after AOR? Is the Webform the only way to send unsolicited documents like this fee receipt?
