PR Card Renewal - March/April 2026 Timelines

My PR card was expired in 2024, so I stayed back in Canada. I've finished my residency obligation on 23-Feb-2026. Applied for PR card renewal on 4-March-2026. Card showed up in my mailbox on 24-March-2026. It took 20 days to receive the card, even though there is no change of status in the portal.

Status still submitted.

Json shows: Ready for Review.

its kind of trick to check application status, i dont know its authentic or not. to check follow the steps:

1. login into your pr renewal portal. right-click anywhere on page and click inspect (or simply press f12 button after login).
2. click on network tab and refresh the page.
3. you will see two different 4000 entries. select one by one and you will find your details.
4. scroll down and find status from right window.

Hi everyone,

I have a quick question about renewing a PR card. If someone apply for renewal before his current card expires (for example, several months early), will the new card’s expiry date be based on the old card’s expiry, or will it be a new 5-year period from the issue date of the new card? i.e will he lose any remaining months from his current card if he renews early?

Hi my card shows mailed March 23, 2026 and it now April 28 and have not received it. I call ICCRC and they said to wait until May 4. Did you receive your card yet?

Update:

Card was delivered on 30 April. Pr portal still shows submitted no changes, didn't get AOR email.

Application submitted on 1 april. Json shows completed on 21 April.

Thanks a lot for your prompt response. If JSON is showing "completed", does this mean it is approved? The application is for PR renewal though. Thanks again
