That’s interesting cause I wondered how ircc increased the processing times to 10+ years after Canuck78 made the prediction. Seems like they do listen to our opinions

Doubt my twitter posts have any impact on IRCC. I had been posting that the wait times posted were incorrect and were much longer for over a year on this forum before IRCC started posting somewhat more accurate processing times. I just did simple math based on the tables IRCC puts out showing how many applications are being processed. A large number of applicants divided by the immigration target for H&C (also posted by IRCC) resulted in a much higher number than 18 months. I was not the only one who noticed that the posted processing times were inaccurate. Not sure why they didn’t post more accurate processing times before but the update has nothing to do with me. I’m sure IRCC was getting a lot of calls or emails about processing of their H&C close to 18 months and at 18+ months. IRCC posts processing times and put in a dashboard to try to minimize calls/webforms they were receiving asking about where they were in processing. Nothing actually changed in terms of processing it was IRCC that wasn’t putting out accurate information.

IRCC is trying to please a certain group of voters, but it’s getting more and more out of touch with real life… I’m not even talking about the h&c they’ve broken and keep ignoring instead of fixing it, or Bill C-12 that will push more people to apply for PRRA, TRP, or h&c I’m also not talking about the cuts to international students, the very limited francophone communities program, or the other bad decisions IRCC and its officials are making. What I really mean is the new TR to PR program, which honestly just sounds crazy… 33,000 applicants for communities where almost nobody lives, lol
I understand that it’s important to grow these areas, but the first step should be to make them more attractive to temporary workers and immigrants. You can’t force people to live somewhere if there are no houses, no jobs, no schools, and not enough hospitals.
IRCC already has a very bad reputation, and with the Diab administration, the situation is only going to get worse for ircc ...

There are jobs and houses in many of these locations. Trying to spread immigration across Canada and not primarily to a few urban centres has been a longterm goal for all parties since many of these locations have a need for workers and an ageing population. Agree that more people will end up applying for H&C which is why the program is no longer functional and needs to be culled and started from scratch with strict criteria which I have pointed on many occasions. Having people removed before their H&C is processed and then getting a response decades later outside Canada makes zero sense and is very expensive.

Of course, I should add that people living in these rural regions will automatically have the right to move to another region once they become permanent residents. Freedom of movement is constitutionally protected for permanent residents, and no federal law or provincial legislation (for those who refer to the provincial nominee programs) can restrict this right.
Should the government maybe create a different status than permanent residency one that gives more rights than temporary residents on order to make people stay in these regions long term, while also making those places actually livable ??
These are certainly great regions, I’m not saying otherwise especially for people who don’t like big cities, like me but not everyone thinks that way...

There is nothing new on the 33k Tr to Pr pathway haven’t you heard the overhyped program has disappointed majority of temporary residents hoping for this pathway for Permanent residence...

The 33,000 Tr to Pr is just to speed up already submitted PR application to IRCC and those in some certain rural areas is eligible..
This program those not give PR to temporary residents ..
