I am still waiting an update. I applied on April 26th, 2023. I have been waiting to see background check is started… But no luck so far.. My work permit is expiring at the end of this April. I will need to apply to get extension, in case of possible delay to get FD

I have a question for this. In processing times appears for me 4 months left (for August 2023) , If I have a planned trip on July, what will happen if I received that email when Im outside. I will be out for 15 days. Im wondering about. Dos anybody knows what to do in that situtation?

If you are outside Canada, you should reply to the email and tell IRCC you are temporarily abroad and inform them you will return to Canada on your planned date and they will usually wait until you are back in Canada before sending Portal 2. As far as I know.

Hey everyone,

I’m a May 31, 2023 applicant. I haven’t received any updates since my pre-arrival and eligibility email in August 2024. At this point, I’m honestly feeling quite exhausted from the wait.

I’m also unable to link my application to the IRCC portal. According to my GCMS notes from mid-2025, my application was still in the background check stage.

The PR processing portal currently shows 3 months remaining, but there has been no communication so far.

Has anyone else in a similar situation experienced this?

Long silence at this stage is unfortunate, if you have not done very recently why would not do the following order new GCMS notes to check whether the security screening has started or finished. Submit an IRCC webform requesting an update on your application status. Contact your local MP’s office and ask them to request a status update from IRCC on your behalf.

How can I renewal my brown paper ? It will be expiring in April.

The renewal process is different for each document. Are you talking about a work permit, visitor record, refugee claimant document, or another temporary IRCC document?

If you were already been accepted as a protected person, it becomes unnecessary to renew your refugee claimant document anymore because you are no longer a claimant, and the IRB’s notice of decision becomes your new immigration status document.
If you don’t have an ID and you need one, go to your provincial government service centre to get a photo ID, or otherwise get a driver’s license.
