Hi just to share the timeline for my daughter, she's 7 now.

Feb 25, 2025 - Submitted application
March 8, 2025 - AOR received
April 4, 2025 - Medical request
June 26, 2025 - Pre-Arrival Letter
Dec 24, 2025 - Passport request letter; I then replied to request for virtual landing
Jan 7, 2026 - P1
Jan 12, 2026 - P2
Jan 21, 2026 - eCOPR

Did you request virtual landing because, between submitting your application and receiving the passport request letter, you returned to Canada — meaning you were no longer an outland applicant but an inland applicant instead?

My daughter arrived Canada in November 2022 with eTA(Electronic travel authorization) and never left Canada.

I submitted the online application for her in Feb 2025, and thought it was considered as inland application. However, it was processed by an IRCC office overseas. I then realized that, maybe, it is actually an outland one.

I am still very confused, maybe some senior members here can explain what it is exactly an inland application?

I requested virtual landing to that IRCC office overseas and they transferred the application to Montreal IRCC office.

I believe inland is when the applicant (your daughter) is in Canada and Outland is if she is out of Canada. Are you (the sponsor) in Canada?

For Child Sponsorship I dont know what triggers the inland/outland decision in case the sponsor and the child are in different countries.

That’s very weird then. Even if an office out of Canada processed your application (usually Mexico), they should have sent you Portal instructions, not passport request. Maybe there was an internam confusion and maybe that’s why it took them 6 months to move your application forward.
