The people “jumping the line” are probably 2025 priority applicants. I have no evidence for this; it’s only my guess.
We’re priority processing .

SUV backlogs increased to 45,200 (+800), exactly as expected. What’s puzzling, though, is that around 600 applicants were added ahead of me in line. As a 2021 applicant, I’m curious where they came from and how their files jumped the queue. Another notable update: processing times for Protected Persons outside Quebec have dropped by 86 months—a dramatic shift. Perhaps something similar might happen with SUV applications once the backlog is properly reorganized.
Protected persons outside Quebec ~95,900 (-49,700) About 17 months -86 months
Does this affect in any way to SUV?One-time initiatives to recalibrate our immigration system
As part of a broader recalibration effort to return our immigration system to sustainable levels, the Government is implementing a one-time initiative over a two-year period to streamline the transition of approximately 115,000 Protected Persons in Canada who are already on a pathway to permanent residence and in alignment with their protected status under domestic and international law. These admissions are in addition to those identified in the above permanent resident admission targets. Protected persons have a recognized protected person status in Canada and can reside in the country as long as they maintain this status. They are not temporary residents like workers or students who come to Canada on time-bound temporary permits. Prioritizing their admissions as permanent residents over the next two years will ensure that those in genuine need of Canada’s protection have their permanent status recognized, accelerating their full integration into the Canadian society and their path to citizenship, and upholding Canada’s international humanitarian obligations.

not at allDoes this affect in any way to SUV?
They should have paused the program back then until all applications were processed and then resumed. Now, I don’t know ( maybe they either) how they will clear that increase of 300% in the backlog. They say priorities and crap but with 500 places….. Very hardDraft 2022 IRCC Memorandum to the Minister recommending increasing the amount of Start-Up Visa Program applications approved each year. This ultimately did not happen, with the direction of the program being uncertain to say the least.
I’ve read the full federal court decisionCheck out the blunder...
Federal Court rules that it is reasonable for an officer to determine that a Start-Up Visa Program applicant who does not apply for a work permit has demonstrated a "lack of seriousness" in their business. Ironically, IRCC now prohibits SUV Program applicants from applying for work permits.
On May 24, 2024, a letter was sent to you requesting for [sic] financial statements and T2 Corporate Notice of Assessments for 2021 to 2023 for your company, PicIt4Me Tech Design Corp (PicIt4Me). You indicated the T2 Corporation Income Tax Returns for 2021 and 2022 were signed and submitted to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), however you provided little evidence supporting this. You indicated you cannot provide financial statements for your company as you were unable to open business accounts. As a part of preparing the T2 Corporate [sic] Income Tax Return, the corporation must meet its obligation to produce financial statements. It does not appear you are actively involved in the business’s operations.
Additionally, the Commitment Certificate issued April 19, 2021 indicated urgent reasons for you to come to Canada. Our records show that you have not applied for a work permit to work on your business. I have concerns of your intent to provide active and ongoing management from within Canada.
The job recruitment posting made on Job Spider on May 15, 2024 for a Help Desk Specialist does not appear to be aligned with the current stage of the company as your application does not appear ready for market. I have concerns that one or more transactions were entered into primarily for the purpose of acquiring a status or privilege under the Act.
I also have concerns of your ability to become economically established in Canada. The cost of entry for your business appears low, with many competitors in the marketplace. There is insufficient evidence on file to demonstrate you have the ability to manage the risks in your business venture. Furthermore, the business appears to be in direct competition with the company, Field Agent. There is also insufficient evidence to support the viability and profitability of this business.
Finally, you indicated the group was acquainted with your supporting investor, Alexander KULYASHOV in late 2020. However, it does not appear you were registered to present to VANTEC until on or around February 4, 2021. It appears that contact with Alexander KULYASHOV was established prior to applying to VANTEC. I have concerns of your collaboration with the supporting investor.
I’ve read the full federal court decision
The application was not refused just for that reason but many reasons on top of that:
List of all the reasons
it was a group of several actions that led to refusal.
As I read and studied in the GCMS notes, it was mentioned very clearly by the IRCC officer that:I think this refusal was due to eligibility.
As I read and studied in the GCMS notes, it was mentioned very clearly by the IRCC officer that:
=> The Medical Request will be sent after " Eligibility passed "
In my case, I got the MR as well as my Medical has been passed.
As the normal processing procedure as before, the next steps would be the Background check ( Security )...
But Everything is now changed a lot! I really don't know what is the next ones...will they come back to process my eligibility again basing on the new rules/prioriry or they will go ahead.
Your comment would be appreciated and welcomed
Cheers

Hello everyone, me and my family have been in a kind of long stressful and confusing predicament with the start up visa for about a while now and i felt the need to post about it on here if anyone here has any sort of information, discussions or just overall support or advice that could be of any sort of help to me right now. my family had applied for the start up visa pr in July 2021, and the official filing started in July 2022 which then proceeded with us being asked to do our first medical in December 2023 then a second one December 2024 and then our pre arrival came out in march 2025, and now in January 2026 it has been nothing but radio silence from them since then, which is definitely frustrating and confusing especially because firstly our application was supposed to take only about 3 and a half years and secondly our pre arrival has come which of course i know doesn't guarantee immediate approval but for over 10 months now we haven't heard anything at all, and it was expected/estimated for it to have come out around late last year and our most recent medical expired around like first week December 2025, with the other people's own on the team expiring around late November 2025. this entire process has really taken a major toll on me and everyone in my family's mental health and the silence even whilst basically expecting to be near or already approved by now has been really draining, I'm really hoping once again anyone here can give any support, advice or information i would really really appreciate anything right now, thank you so much and God bless.
I believe the key point is the annual quota only 500(shared with Self-employed), you can do nothing but just wait for your available spot, be patient for a while, and your victory is coming soon.Hello everyone, me and my family have been in a kind of long stressful and confusing predicament with the start up visa for about a while now and i felt the need to post about it on here if anyone here has any sort of information, discussions or just overall support or advice that could be of any sort of help to me right now. my family had applied for the start up visa pr in July 2021, and the official filing started in July 2022 which then proceeded with us being asked to do our first medical in December 2023 then a second one December 2024 and then our pre arrival came out in march 2025, and now in January 2026 it has been nothing but radio silence from them since then, which is definitely frustrating and confusing especially because firstly our application was supposed to take only about 3 and a half years and secondly our pre arrival has come which of course i know doesn't guarantee immediate approval but for over 10 months now we haven't heard anything at all, and it was expected/estimated for it to have come out around late last year and our most recent medical expired around like first week December 2025, with the other people's own on the team expiring around late November 2025. this entire process has really taken a major toll on me and everyone in my family's mental health and the silence even whilst basically expecting to be near or already approved by now has been really draining, I'm really hoping once again anyone here can give any support, advice or information i would really really appreciate anything right now, thank you so much and God bless.
