My parents have there existing visa which is expiring on May 2026 - I plan to travel to India and apply the visa extension and travel back to Canada with them on the existing TRV after a month or 2.

What do you have to do with their visa? They cannot extend a visa. They apply for a new one. They can enter Canada prior to May 2026. CBSA will determine how long they are allowed to stay when they enter.

They will be allowed to enter and CBSA will determine length of stay. They can apply for a new permit now. No need to wait for you.

How long have they been visiting Canada? If they have spent any time in Canada they should really be reestablishing their ties to their home country before attempting to visit again. Going back to India for a month or two to apply for a TRV is essentially visiting India not Canada.

often in Canada - They do have strong ties in India like property/ rental/tenant agreement/ Bank account.

Since we can't renew a TRV while in Canada with out having a study permit or work permit.

I am planning to travel with my parents( planning to travel to India on Feb - they came to Canada on September 2025).

My initial purpose is to renew the TRV as it is expiring on May 2026.

My initial question is - If we land in India on Feb 2026 - and apply for TRV renewal 3 months prior to its expiry. Could we travel back to Canada on the existing TRV which is still valid till May 2026 while the renewal is in progress??

or do you think I should apply for the super visa from India but the passport expires in 2 years - But same question applies - If I apply for super visa - can we still travel back to Canada on the valid TRV while the super visa is in progress??

If you qualify, apply for the Supervisa. Application cost is the same as a TRV, so even if it's only valid until passport expiry (usually you just bring the old passport with the visa with the new passport), there's no financial difference, plus you don't have to bother with extending stays. They can travel with the visa until expiry, but CBSA could limit their visit until the expiry of the TRV.....impossible to determine the officers mood that day.
