Hello everyone,

I applied for PR from Canada (inland), but I had to move back to India because my work permit expired. I already updated my address through the IRCC webform, and my Indian address is also showing correctly in my tracker.

However, I’ve just received the P1 email, not the PPR, which is confusing me a bit. Is this normal for someone who is currently outside Canada?

Also, in the P1 email they ask:
“If you are not inside Canada, when is your expected return date (YYYY/MM/DD)?”
Since I’m outside Canada and don’t have a return date yet, what should I write here?

My application is under CEC – French category.

If anyone has been in a similar situation or has any guidance, please share your experience.
Thanks a lot in advance!

Just explain that you moved back to India because your WP has expired, that you have no plans to return to Canada until you can land as a PR and indicate your new address in India. You will be put on the COPR pathway to PR not eCOPR. Life changes which is exactly why there is a P1 step to catch cases like yours. This is not an uncommon situation and will not be an issue.
