Spousal sponsorship on implied status

I am on implied status for visitor record, before that i was on pgwp. So now i am going to lodge a file for spousal sponsorship. I read posts about people that they got refused for visitor record and got response to leave Canada immediately.. just want to ask plz if somebody can let me know what’s the reason people are getting this response and what if i got this one

Although you currently have legal status (Maintained Status), that would be in jeopardy if your VR application is denied.
If you submit an Inland application (SCPLC), the requirement to have legal status is waived.

I'm 90% certain that applicants for restoration of status do not benefit from maintained status.

If you applied for the VR before your visitor status expired, you may be ok.
