Indian Passport Renewal from BLS Toronto

I finally received my passport today. Here's the timeline:

1. BLS passport submission - Aug 19, 2025
2. Passport sent to the CGI Toronto - Aug 19, 2025
3. Processing started at CGI Toronto - Aug 29, 2025
4. PV initiated - Aug 29, 2025
5. Approved and Submitted as Clear by Police - Sep 12, 2025
6. Print Initiated - Sep 12, 2025
7. Printed - Sept 16, 2025
8. In Transit from Consulate General to BLS Centre - Sept 18, 2025
9. Dispatched by courier - Sep 19, 2025
10. Passport delivered by Purolator - Sept 22, 2025

For those who are unaware, passport application submitted in Toronto is printed locally by CGI Toronto after PV is received clear. So after printing it takes just 2 days to dispatch to BLS.

Thanks to the folks who responded to my queries on this forum.

What is the validity of passport these days printed in toronto? Is it 10 years or less?

Thanks , it worked, but this is so strange.
I put +1 date as my date of birth since my original date of birth didn't work. It said wrong date of birth.

and when i submitted the info- the status showed my date of birth as -1 date

The status

Passport application is under review at Indian Embassy/Consulate

I applied on 15th Nov. I also got an email yesterday about police verification initiated.

I learned this trick from that guy on Reddit who posted this after they changed the whole website and was finally able to track the status. It’s so frustrating the way it takes so long to get passport back

i submit my application on Oct 24,2025 and still i am waiting for dispatch

I made a call to IRCC 10 days back, the agent suggested to write a letter of explanation with including the receipts as proof of payment for the passport renewal, he said that should help the processing officer to know the current situation and extend the timeframe. I think we can use the old BIL for the biometrics, it shouldn't be an issue because there is no end date mentioned on the letter.

Hey I have received BIL and there is end date mentioned on it so can you please tell what to do in this situation. Does ircc give new BIL?

Hey, I explained it in the above msg, call IRCC, they will give extension, we needs to write a letter of explanation and attach the proof that PP is sent for renewal - send via webform. No need of new BIL, you can use the old BIL even the mentioned date on the Old BIL has crossed.

You can request them to call you once they are at your address (eg - using buzzer code), else they will just leave a door tag with instructions to collect
