Hello,

When creating my Express Entry profile (I am the principal applicant), I answered “no” to the question: “Does your husband have any work experience?” I answered this way because I thought the question referred only to Canadian work experience.

But now, after receiving the ITA, I’m a bit worried. Some people told me that I should keep this answer as it is and list all of his jobs only in the Personal History section. Others told me that I should absolutely mention his work experience.

So I’m a bit confused and would like your opinion.

Thank you very much.

You can simply add his work exp in the personal history section. I did that with my spouse too. It also reduces the burden of getting documentations for things that you don't need.

You can add a LoA to explain the wrongly answered question. Objectively - nothing you did shows that you tried to misrepresent/hide anything to game the system. My spouse's EE had work exp declared in it and we moved that to personal history because we didn't wanted to do the extra documentation and nor we got any extra points that way. If the logic of zero points of foreign work exp of partner still is the same, I don't think there's any big issue.

Those who are telling that you should absolutely mention his work exp don't know any better. To be at peace, you can book at $100-250/hr call for an hour with a Canadian immigration lawyer and you'll get a better answer.
