This is extremely odd from a Liberal MP. Do they realize that the Liberals are in power? That they have been trying to pass bill C-2 and now c-12? Agree that many parts of Canada’s immigration need clarity but they should know that bill c-12 Iikely what is delaying any announcements about H&C. Also unclear if they are really targeting a specific subgroup of H&C.

That's true. Its a total mess and IRCC is not the only one to blame for this mess. Its also applicants, who once refused 1st application applied for 2nd, 3rd and so on. Than failed refugees, parents , out of status illegal immigrants and the list goes on. The program have been totally misused. More controls are required at the application submission stage like stopping repeat applicants, failed refugees and other similar type of cases to apply for this program.

Which is why I think the most likely option and what has been used in the past is to cull the program and start from scratch with much more defined criteria. Not a perfect solution but none exists. The fact that we may soon have a liberal majority may move things along faster.

This is one of the steps to talk about this issue in the chamber.

Exactly, but the most important thing is your signature !

I am surprised many people in this forum are still talking about H and C. The inventory volume under processing times show a little to no movement in files month to month. The backlog is not even 100 files less in a month. Unless reforms are implemented, the program is currently frozen.

Honestly, I’m not surprised to see how people are reacting. Even though the H&C stream is almost completely dysfunctional right now and decisions are extremely rare, unfortunately, these people still hold on to that tiny glimmer of hope in the midst of their deep despair.
I know you understand what I mean, since you too once waited for your approval in principle

Yes but this is clearly performative from a MP in the government currently in power. This MP could have had direct feedback about their concern to caucus, immigration minister, PM, etc.

The writing has been on the wall for quite some time. Hope the government is at least honest after bill c-12 or amended version passes. Not ripping off the bandaid and making some very tough choices has only lead to more problems and dysfunction in the whole immigration system. We need a more competent minister and someone todo some longterm modeling. The immigration target plans reinforces that IRCC keeps making the same mistakes and not learning from them.
