Hi everyone, I had my hearing on September 26, 2025, and thankfully got a positive decision. How long does IRB usually take to send the NOD to my consultant, considering that Tuesday, September 30, 2025, is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada? Since the Minister wasn’t at the hearing and made no comments on my claim, should I worry about the 15-day appeal, or can I relax and move ahead with applying for PR and a travel document? Thank you

Congratulations. Would expect it to take from a few weeks up to a few months depending on the member and whether they are up-to-date on their admin work.

If You got the decission same day of hearing, so the paper Notice could take 2,3 weeks.

Its different when they don't give decission and say You Will receive by mail. But looks like it's not your case.

Good luck!

Yes, I got it the same day. I also have a consultant. I read on the IRB website that they no longer send the NOD by mail to consultants, only through the portal. That’s a good thing, especially with the Canada Post strike. Do you think it will take less than 2 weeks to receive the NOD?

Please, I need help with this.
I had my refugee hearing on the 7th of October, 2025, and it lasted about 4 hours.During the hearing, the Member didn’t question my credibility or complain about my documents. At the end, she just said that the decision would be sent to me by mail.Since then, I haven’t heard anything. My lawyer also hasn’t received the decision yet.Is it normal for the decision to take this long?I would really appreciate any guidance or advice.

There is no specific timeline for NOD so yes it can take this long. Doesn’t necessarily mean it is a positive or a negative. The NOD should be sent to your lawyer by email no longer by mail.

is IRB no longer sending mail letters? all communication is now through email? even to those who don't have representatives?
