Hello,

My passport was seized at the Etobicoke immigration office when I applied for refugee status. I recently received an email from IRCC asking me to pick it up.

I plan to apply for citizenship in April 2026 and I heard that officers may ask for scans of all passport pages to confirm no travel to the home country. I’m wondering could picking up my passport now could cause any issues or delays in processing later?

If it is going to increase processing time for the citizenship application, I don't want to pick it up.

No issue as long as you don’t use the passport.

IRCC asked you to pick it up, so it will not impact your citizenship application as long as you dont use your national passport for travel or renew it.
