Hi all,
Some people have mentioned about "AOR" here. Does it mean "Acknowledgement of Receipt"? And, how do we get it? Through email? Reason I am asking is because there was no mention of any such thing like "AOR" in the official application guide on their website.
All I have to check the status is the "PR card portal" where it is still showing as "Submitted" (My submission date was Aug 28).
Also, some people have mentioned about "linking the application". Again, there was no mention of any such thing like "linking" in the official application guide on their website.
Can anyone tell me what this "linking" is, as in, what are we trying to link and is it mandatory?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

1. Yes, AOR means acknowledgment of receipt.
2. You will receive to your email. Note: I did not receive AOR and noticed that 50% of the applicants are not getting it. That doesn't mean your application was not submitted. It means IRCC's systems are bad.
I also called IRCC and the agent said they can’t see or attach notes until an officer opens the file; once opened, they’ll typically deal with duplicates then."We verified the information you provided and can confirm that it is not necessary to provide additional documentation or update your information if you do not currently have an application in process with IRCC. For this reason, the information you provided will not be added to your file. If applicable, we invite you to include this information when you submit a new application."
At this point I'd suggest waiting.Any advice or experiences would be really helpful. thanks!
Thank you. I will just wait.At this point I'd suggest waiting.
You can travel outside Canada without one; you need the PR card to return. If you don't get it, you can apply for a PRTD or return via a land border (if you can travel through USA).
What did you do? Did you end up traveling? I am in the same situation. Applied 23 Sept, flight on 20 Oct, put in urgent request with supporting documents.I applied to renew my pr card on August 14th, didn’t get it as of now. Pr card is expiring on September 22nd. I have flight on 26 this month. Can i travel with expired card?
The key question is whether or not you are in compliance with the residency obligation.PR renewal card application sent on 22 September 2025
Linked my application to IRCC portal on 23 September 2025
Current status: "Submitted"
My boss and employer based in the US - is requesting me to travel for meetings in the HQ offices to DC this week. Can I leave and re-enter through land borders? If yes, what are the risks, and what documentation will I need to show the land officer?
Would really appreciate feedback - If I go, need to take a flight tomorrow night.
Update:Hi all,
I submitted two PR card renewal applications by mistake—one with a name error (Sep 4, accidentally reversed Family/Given names on IMM 5444) and a corrected one (Sep 8). I sent webforms asking IRCC to withdraw the first, but got a generic reply:
I also called IRCC and the agent said they can’t see or attach notes until an officer opens the file; once opened, they’ll typically deal with duplicates then.
For experts or anyone familiar with this process, could you please advise?
- How does IRCC usually handle duplicate PR card renewals? If the webform withdrawal request isn’t attached yet, how will the officer know to withdraw the Sep 4 file when they first open it?
- Should I send another webform once I get an application number?
Any advice or experiences would be really helpful. thanks!
