I finally received my passport today. Here's the timeline:

1. BLS passport submission - Aug 19, 2025
2. Passport sent to the CGI Toronto - Aug 19, 2025
3. Processing started at CGI Toronto - Aug 29, 2025
4. PV initiated - Aug 29, 2025
5. Approved and Submitted as Clear by Police - Sep 12, 2025
6. Print Initiated - Sep 12, 2025
7. Printed - Sept 16, 2025
8. In Transit from Consulate General to BLS Centre - Sept 18, 2025
9. Dispatched by courier - Sep 19, 2025
10. Passport delivered by Purolator - Sept 22, 2025

For those who are unaware, passport application submitted in Toronto is printed locally by CGI Toronto after PV is received clear. So after printing it takes just 2 days to dispatch to BLS.

Dear Members,

I had applied for the renewal of Indian passport Normal category at BLS Edmonton. I received an email stating that police verification had been initiated on August 13, 2025. But No body contacted my father for police verification in India and I received my renewed passport on September 3, 2025.

So My father checked with the local police station in India twice (once before receiving and once after receiving passport) , and they informed him that no police verification request has been received in my name. I would like to clarify the following:

1. Is it normal to receive a police verification initiation email without the actual verification being conducted? Since I have already received my passport 20 days ago, is any further action required from my side?
2. Should I follow up with BLS or the Consulate General of India in Vancouver regarding this issue? or just move on in my life.

I would appreciate your assistance.

It isn't even a linear process. How long ago did you apply for PP - sometimes you even get the PP without police verification and it happens afterwards. Escalation is futile if you haven't been waiting from too long.

I applied on 23rd August a little over 1 month back and police verification was already conducted 10 days back..But I dont see any movement in my application status...Is this normal??I dont see any contact on CGI website only contact no on emergency grounds

Pretty normal timeline. You'll get a message for the passport dispatch soon.

From my experience with CGI - we raised BLS issues with them earlier this year - I can assure you that CGI is only going to ignore requests that aren't facing any significant delay here. Expect a month or more too.

Thanks for the response.Just 1 query does raising issue in BLS gets directed to consulate or BLS queries is only for BLS related matters I am confused

BLS is already an org that's not going to do much even if something was under their control - this, has more to do with the govt + consulate + BLS, so they are likely going to ignore you.
