I was really astonished that you received your eCoPR on September 17, then applied online for your SIN, and got it within just 24 hours. Normally, even if you only want to view your SIN in your Service Canada account, it takes at least 48 hours. On top of that, if you already have an account, it gets closed immediately after you apply online, and you must call them to open a new one. I’m amazed at how you managed to complete all of this within just 24 hours.I have a question. I applied online for a new SIN number and received it today. However, my CRA account still shows my old SIN number. Should I open a new CRA account, or how can I update it?
Yeah you’re right. SIN application is all online now, and Service Canada has the new MSCA portal for a lot of things. Last time I extended my SIN with a new work permit, it was updated in less than 24 hours. Same thing happened yesterday I applied online with my eCoPR and driver’s license, and by Sept 18 at 3:08 AM my new SIN was already issued. I just logged into MSCA and downloaded it. I think for online SIN applications there’s no human factor, that’s why it’s so fast. For CRA, it’s slower. I asked in the group and then called a CRA officer they said it usually takes 3–7 days to update. Service Canada sends it automatically, then you just need to create a new MyCRA account.I was really astonished that you received your eCoPR on September 17, then applied online for your SIN, and got it within just 24 hours.
