My spouse and I received our eCoPR on August 1st. She had a flight booked for early September, so she left, and I stayed in Canada to wait for our PR cards so I could mail it to her abroad. Canada's website says the processing time is 36 days, but it has been 42 days and we haven't heard any news. We applied for a PRTD and received the PPR today, within five days.

My concern is that if she sends her passport for stamping, it will take 2 to 3 weeks to get it back. What if we receive the PR card before that, and she has to stay longer just to wait for her passport? I know we have 30 days to submit the passport, so I am wondering how long I should wait to hear about the PR card application before we finally decide to submit the passport.

Tough to comment without knowing your return date.

Original return date is September 24th, but with flexibility to extend it.

Better to get PRTD. That's the only thing you can control right now. The more you wait, the more it will take for passports to come back. And, if the PR card has to be reissued, that'll not be a nice situation for you folks either way.

Also, wow! Never realized you were still in line for processing - seen you here from 2023 and thought you were a PR already :D Congrats anyways!

You are right, PRTD is our safest option. It's already Friday so I guess we'll wait until Monday. It's too late to send the passport today anyways. If I don't have any updates by noon on Monday, we'll submit the passport for PRTD. Thanks.

Thank you! Came in as a student in 2021, started OINP in 2023, applied for PR in 2024, and finally a PR last month. A long journey (and still waiting for PR card).
