Did anyone recently attend a citizenship ceremony? Was PR card and Manitoba Health Card accepted during registration? MB Healthcard does not have a photo and signature.

Hi Guys,

Can anyone help me with this info

I want to apply for Citizenship for me and my wife.

I got my PR via express entry in 2019 and then I took IELTS in 2017. My wife got her PR via spousal application .

For Citizenship proof for my wife, can I upload her bachelor’s degree certificate from India, and she is working in IT for last 10 years both in India and also in Canada combined, any of this would help for language? Did anyone did this personally and worked?

For myself, I don’t know how I can retrieve my IELTS results from 2017?

Any info would be helpful

Thanks
  1. In your case, if you still have a printout of your IELTS test result, you can simply scan and upload it. If you can’t find the result, you can write an explanation stating that you had cleared the IELTS with the band you achieved, and mention that IRCC should already have your IELTS records from when you applied for PR.
  2. For your wife, if her bachelor’s degree was completed in English, it can be accepted as proof of language. She would need to upload her transcript or a letter from the university confirming that the medium of instruction was English. Her work experience in IT, whether in India or Canada, will not count toward proving language ability.

From what I’ve seen in a few cases, if IRCC is not fully satisfied with the documents provided for language, they usually invite applicants for a short interview to check their English proficiency. In fact, several people I know never wrote any English test at all, yet they became citizens after IRCC assessed their language skills during the interview. Rest you can call IRCC for correct answer.

Yes, the PR Card is always accepted since it has both your photo and signature. For the second piece of ID, IRCC requires something that shows your name and date of birth. It doesn’t necessarily need a photo, but if it does not, then your PR card covers the photo/signature requirement.

Many people in Manitoba have successfully used their Manitoba Health Card as the second piece of ID, even though it has no photo or signature, because it still proves name and DOB.

If the officer feels it’s not sufficient, they may just ask for another piece (like driver’s license, provincial ID, or even foreign passport). But in most recent ceremonies, PR Card + MB Health Card has been accepted without issue.

So you should be fine, but if you have another photo ID handy (like a driver’s license), bring it just in case.

Hi team,

For anyone who’s done the virtual oath — how soon after did you get the email or link to download your citizenship certificate? My oath is on the 2nd (Tuesday), and so far I’ve only gotten the invite. Should I be worried?
