PGWP Extention due to passport expiry?

Hi everyone,
I applied for a work permit extension by paper and just found out my background check has started. Does anyone know how long it usually takes from the background check stage to get the final approval?
I received a temporary application number but am unable to link my application to an online account since I applied by paper.

I’m in the same boat as you — I also received a temporary file/application number but haven’t been able to link my paper application to my online account. Could you let me know when you applied? You mentioned that your background check had started — have you received your approval since then, as it’s been over two weeks since that update? Also, how did you find out about the background check starting — was it through email or another way?

I applied on March 12. I called IRCC, and they informed me that my background check is in process. My account is now linked with the temporary application number, but I haven’t received my approval yet.

Thanks for sharing the info! When you say you applied on March 12, do you mean that’s when you sent your documents to IRCC or when you received your temporary application number? Also, how were you able to link your account using the temporary application number? I haven’t seen any field to enter the temporary number when trying to link mine.

Regarding the temporary application number, I initially tried several times to link my application but was unsuccessful. After 3 months, I entered the same details again, and this time it successfully linked to my account.
