Hi, we are applying for tourist visa for my mother in law (applicant) and it has been refused twice.

My mother in law (applicant) has bank account balance of about ~$7000 CAD, which is included in application.

Applicant will stay only for 1 month.

Applicant is widowed and has no work.

The applicant also has a property and house back home, which she has provided proof in application. House documents.

Me and my wife are listed as inviters on the application, we added our IDs also in the application, employment company names, phone numbers, emails.

We have listed in the letter that we inviters will shoulder all the expenses of the applicant, including food and buying of gifts and souvenir.

Applicant will stay in our home free of charge, also included in the letter.

We also listed in the letter that applicant will go back home at the end of her stay since she has a house which she needs to take care of.

We inviters has also provided some pictures that shows we are a family.

What we might add next time:
- Birth certificate of my wife, which shows that applicant is her mother.

Anything else we can add to improve our application?

Thank you

She needs to show her own funds. You funding everything raises questions on whether she can afford a visit. She also has no family ties or job ties to return to. Owning a house doesn't show proof of return unless income property so show rental agreements, payments that must be received only if she is in the country. Yes, she needs to show proof of relationship. Keep visit to 2 weeks.

If you are PR, then consider supervisa.

1. Applicant is showing her own funds which around 7000 CAD, is this not enough?

2. We the inviters has mentioned we will cover her expenses, home stay is free, food is on us. When she needs to buy some gifts, we will pay. Is this a red flag? Because its a gesture from us for a guest, and my mother in law.

3. what else can be shown as strong ties to home country if there are no rental properties? Applicant is retired and widowed. No more work.

4. I am a citizen, my wife is a PR. If we apply supervisa for applicant, how will that affect the application? Funds will still be the same and no other home ties

Thanks

If you meet LICO, apply for the SV. Her own funds are low. With a TRV, IRCC expects the applicant to pay all costs, despite what you supply.

1. Not for a month. $10k cash is a good starting minimum for 2-3 week visit.
2. Yes. Shows she cannot afford to come to Canada. She needs to show she has all the funds in cash.
3. She has not ties to return.
4. If you meet LICO the try for supervisa, pass medical, pay year of health insurance and say she will stay longer.

Thanks, we meet the lico requirements

But there's 2 questions

1. If we apply supervisa, will the applicants' low show money/funds be ignored?

2. Applicant will return to her home country after the tour in Canada, but how can we provide proof of it in our case. its like we are stuck, we cannot show a made-up paperwork
