Hello Abbas, I applied for OCI at BLS Toronto office 19th of July. In the BLS website it is processing at Consulate General but still in OCI website the status showing as Pending. When Can i expect the acknowledgement in this case? can you please guide me

Hey Vinod, I believe (and other can correct me if the acknowledgement time has changed) usually it take about 20 calendar days from the date of submission you can see acknowledgement in case of Toronto jurisdiction on the OCI website.
For other jurisdiction it varies

If there are no issues, it’s 2 weeks to acknowledgement in most cases and 3 weeks from there to granted. Another week or 2 for courier etc. So ballpark 50 days total counting weekends. But this is avg and can be a lot more for some applicants.

Finally received minor's OCI card. This marks the end of our dealings with BLS, at least for now. After all the paperwork, waiting, and anticipation, it feels like a significant milestone for our family.

Unless we decide to welcome another little one into our lives, I hope this is our last visit to BLS for a while!

Hey Vinod, I believe (and other can correct me if the acknowledgement time has changed) usually it take about 20 calendar days from the date of submission you can see acknowledgement in case of Toronto jurisdiction on the OCI website.
For other jurisdiction it varies

Hello Abbas, I even submitted the form 7 for voter cancellation online and it got rejected by saying reason thumb/signature is missing under declaration. For online form I am not getting any option to sign while submitting the application. Can you help me in this case what to do ?

Hello Himashu, Did you submit the form 7 online or offline? if online did you able to sign for the form 7 I am not getting option to sign for form 7 application under declaration, i can see only place and date. Can you please help me

To cancel voter ID: Go to https://voters.eci.gov.in/
Login with your registered mobile number or Email Id and submit form 7.
After submitting Form 7, reach out to you BLO/ERO: You can find their contact here: https://electoralsearch.eci.gov.in/pollingstation
Follow up with them to cancel Voter ID.

Take form 7 acknowledgement printout and submit it with your application at BLS. They need this along with declaration form.

I have not done that process.. Applied for OCI in Dec 2022, back then this wasn't a pre-requisite.

You will have to ask your relative to submit Form 7 physically to your local Electorate office in your home town. My online Form 7 was rejected 3 times - without any reason. A physical form 7 worked for me - finally.


Just attaching the Form 7 ack to your OCI may be risky. What if Form 7 is rejected again ? I would advise to wait for actual Voter ID deletion process to complete - before submitting OCI application.

Once we submit the form7 with all the proper information also rejected means BLO or who ever working on the forms dont know what to do. You know how indian gov people works that too when i submitted the form it almost took 2 months to reject also. so those many months we cannot wait for OCI na. we submitted for cancellation whether cancelltion they will do on time or not that ia in their hands. even for physical form to submit and cancellation in my area it taking more than 2 months. you think how efficiently officers working lol.

You can find contact of your BLO through the eci website. Contact them directly over Whatsapp or call. Send them the form 7 and get it cancelled. Ask for acknowledgement as well.
Other options is to do it using mobile app which works only in india. Ask some of your friends/ relatives to download voter helpline app and submit form 7 their.
