Hi,
My partner has open work permit. I am convention refugee. But on his work permit it says:

Remarks/Observations :
THIS DOCUMENT DOES NOT CONFER TEMPORARY RESIDENT STATUS

Do you guys have any idea what does it mean? Mine says maintained… But his work permit like this. We also applied for trv. Waiting for decision. My partner is not refugee btw.

Thank you.

He only has the WP due to your protected person status. In his case the WP was granted to allow him to work so that your family does not end up on welfare but it doesn’t give him any type of status in Canada similar to when you claimed asylum and were granted a WP but if you lost your hearing you could have lost your WP and been removed. The WP would not allow his to qualify for other immigration like express entry programs for example based on his WP and work while on the WP.

Thank you very much all the information. So he applied for trv. Do you think is there going to be problem for the trv application because of this remark?
If not, when he get his trv he can come back to Canada with trv and work permit right? He needs to show trv and work permit at the immigration.

Thank you!

Hi just curious if your partner was able to get his TRV without any issues? I am in the same situation right now

Hi. My partner received trv in short time and easily. Almost for 10 years (until passport expires).

Are you the spouse of the convention refugee and has open work permit from your partner?

Most do not get TRVs and it is much harder to get a TRV in 2025. You should apply but temper your expectations.
Bullshit. My 4 family members got trv in 30 days. You clearly have no idea what youre talking about. If applicant has all the correct information they never reject. Stop spreading lies canyuckk

There are countless examples of families of protected people, asylum claimants and refugees getting denied. Also a TRV doesn’t guarantee entry into Canada. Getting a TRV in general is much harder than it was just a year ago.

True. I know so many people whose family members were denied TRV. For those who managed to get TRV, they should have demonstrated strong ties with the country where they're residing. If the officer is satisfied of such ties and the other requirements were met, it would be normal to get TRV, but unfortunately this is not the case with most TRV applicants, especially if there is a refugee claim involving a close family member (father/mother/sibling).
