I'm not sure if it's a typo, but if you just had background verification done on July 16, you aren't stuck. You literally just got an update on your application last week.

Hey just letting you know my experience. It was kinda weird cause they forgot about me. The interview was supposed to be at 815. I got there at 8 and waited around but no one called my name. By 930 all but one interviewer was gone and the room was empty. I asked around and turnout the last interviewer thought I was there to do the test so she was waiting for my test results lol. So just speak up if it went well beyond your time.

The actual interview was fine, the interviewer copied my all the stamps in my passport. She said she would review it the next day (today). I haven't gotten any updates yet but hopefully soon. Otherwise she just asked about my job, when I got to Canada. Basic stuff.

It is quite a journey!

Picking up mine first thing tomorrow morning and I'm super excited =D Funnily enough I prefer the new design haha—I think it's much more distinguishably “Canadian” due to the large maple leaf!

One week from today, we'll finally become citizens.

It's been a very long road.

We started our journey to Canada in 2011, and we first arrived as temporary foreign workers. Myself, my husband and my then three year old daughter.

Then, in 2015, we became permanent residents, but because my older daughter is not my husband's biological child, there were too many hurdles to applying for citizenship when we were first eligible. Then came Covid, and then a whole lot of other stuff. Including a Canadian-born child in 2018!

Last year I FINALLY got around to doing a step-parent adoption for my older daughter, so we could remove some of the hurdles, and then we got ready to apply.

I know a lot of Canadians think that moving across the planet is easy, or that we get things for free, but the truth is, like all of you, it's cost us many thousands of dollars to get through this process, along with many stressful experiences with various applications.

Because even when you meet all the criteria, and you've got all the documents, you STILL stress about whether you left something out, forgot to sign something or some other tiny detail that would derail it all.

O Canada. I cannot wait to take this final step!

As someone who came to Canada in 2013 and had been wanting to become a Canadian since day one, I fully understand how long the journey is. For the majority of my adult life, I made most of my decisions and plan my life with the goal of obtaining PR and citizenship. I wouldn't say the journey was bad, but to finally become Canadian officially was such a monumental moment for me.

You guys should go all out on celebrating this huge milestone!
