Does the e certificate get sent out right away after the oath ceremony or are there cases where they send it before. I am intending to make a trip to the States before August and am wondering how soon i can submit my passport application.
It's often available for download right afterwards and in vast majority of cases within 1-3 days (i.e. friday to monday). I think I've only heard of one case where someone didn't get it in four or five days, contacted IRCC, and it was a mistake of some kind and sorted very quickly.
Note too that passports can be done pretty quick, and you only need it to fly back (at land border the copy of the certificate and ID will be enough). Or you could have passport couriered to you, if someone else in Canada can receive it for you.
They tell you when you get the certificate you have to wait 2-3 business days for it to be in the system before you apply for passport. I don't know of anyone that's tested that, it could be available sooner.
Somebody who have done there oath ceremony should know the answer.
Mine is scheduled for July 18 th but I am postponing due to my already planned vacation trip on July 19th.
I just did my oath online, it was very touching, at least for me. Just submitted the Oath of Citizenship and wait for the certificate!
CONGRATS! (Now wait till you hold your first Canadian passport in your hands, you might feel more emotional…)
Now I need to wait for my certificate and I already cut my pr card, I feel I’m in the middle of two worlds I want my certificate so I can finally breathe and relax. I want to finish planning my trip happening in October. I want to be done with ircc for good!
Keep us updated on when you get to download your certificate! Would like to have a reference point for how long I will have to wait for mine after oath too.

You will certainly know if virtual or in -person when you get the oath e-mail. By the way I was able to create trackers for my minors, no update shows on their trackers. Only for the adults.
I got the email to create the portal and download the certificate yesterday at 5am I downloaded immediately so I am officially Canadian now! - I already booked an appointment to get my passport next month and enrolled in voting Canada!
