I am a Canadian and i wish to provide financial support for my sister.

My Sister want to apply for student visa, her program is 1 year. I have paid the complete 1 year tuition fee and for the 1 year living expenses, i wish to get a bank draft in her name in the amount of $21000 and she will provide her bank statement in the equivalent amount of $18000 . Do you think it is okay to show for proof of fund, am i doing the right think providing her with bank draft and my bank statement $20000 too plus a sponsorship suppport letter.

Yes, you are on the right track in providing financial support for your sister's student visa application. Here’s a summary of what you’re doing and its appropriateness:

Financial Support for Student Visa

  1. Tuition Fees: Since you've already paid the complete tuition fee for her one-year program, this is a strong positive factor.
  2. Living Expenses:
    • Providing a bank draft in her name for $21,000 is a good way to show proof of funds.
    • Having her provide a bank statement showing $18,000 adds to the financial evidence.
  3. Your Bank Statement: Including your bank statement showing $20,000 is beneficial, especially when accompanied by a sponsorship support letter. This letter should clearly state your relationship, your willingness to support her financially, and your ability to do so.

Conclusion

  • Proof of Funds: The combination of the bank draft, her bank statement, and your financial documents should provide a solid case for proof of funds.
  • Sponsorship Letter: Make sure the letter is detailed and includes all necessary information.

Set up a GIC for the $21k in her name and then she shows her $18k in her name. When does the program start - Winter 2026?

Her program starts September 2025

So where is she applying from with LOA and PAL. It is July 10.
She already has the LOA, PAL and other supporting documents available. Just the POF is where am confused

Ok. So POF with GIC and her funds is enough. She should look at deferring because not sure where she is applying from. Assume program is PGWP eligible because a one year program is usually a waste of money.

Her program is PGWP eligible, and she will be applying from Nigeria

If she hasn't heard by end of August then defer. Waiting until July makes it difficult for approval. Also factor in passport stamping. Fortunately PAL should not expire but get new LOA.

Alright, thank you. I appreciate
