We discussed and figured I apply now with those documents and if later down the line IRCC requests additional information or wants to route it through Montreal, then she’ll just make the move, stay with a relative in the meantime and get the required documents. Does that make sense? That way she doesn’t have to make the move way before I arrive. Please let me know your opinion on this
She’s keeping her remote job and switching to OHIP and Ontario driver’s license
You can't apply for the Ontario stream right now if your sponsor is currently residing in Quebec. If your sponsor is currently residing in Quebec, then you must apply through the Quebec stream -- and it will certainly take longer, even if you update your application later with a change of province. We discussed and figured I apply now with those documents and if later down the line IRCC requests additional information or wants to route it through Montreal, then she’ll just make the move, stay with a relative in the meantime and get the required documents. Hi,
I have a question,
Lets say i was living with my Girlfriend from July 2024 to July 2025.

Should i Inform IRCC for my change in Marital Status? Because i am still waiting for my PR card.canuck above me cut to the chase, lol, but I'll provide a little bit more context.
In order to be considered common-law for immigration purposes, you have to have been cohabitating in a conjugal relationship for at least 12 full consecutive months. So if you just moved in together for the first time on July 1st 2024, your status is "single" through July 1, 2025. Then, on July 2, 2025, you would be considered to be in a "common-law" relationship with your girlfriend, and would be eligible to apply for PR as a common-law partner as long as you are 1. still living together in a conjugal relationship, or 2. temporarily separated (for things like work or school -- basically, reasons other than a breakdown in the relationship) with the intention of cohabitating again when the situation allows.
Hope that helps!
Should i Inform IRCC for my change in Marital Status? Because i am still waiting for my PR card.
If i update my status would this delay my Card?
I received My ECOPR on 12th June 2025If you became common law before receiving eCOPR you had to update your marital status or that would be considered misrepresentation and would prevent sponsorship in the future.
When did you apply? And did you file for Quebec PR in the Spousal class as single? If you did and you're at the stage where you're already waiting on your card in the family-class stream, and you're not married, and you weren't common-law.... mmmm I would hazard a guess that there's probably some misrepresentation on your application >.<;;;I received My ECOPR on 12th June 2025
I Applied under PEQ-W. Just waiting for my PR cardWhen did you apply? And did you file for Quebec PR in the Spousal class as single? As far as ECOPR, you're literally right at the end and just like waiting at any other stage, there's nothing that will speed up the processing time. After P1 it usually takes about a month (might be a little bit longer right now) to get the email for P2, and then it usually takes a couple weeks to get your Card following that.
Ok perf. Whew! I was worried for you for a sec there! lol. It sounds like you and your girlfriend are still living together and have been since 2024. So your relationship would be considered common-law and you can apply for PR for her under the common-law sponsorship stream in the family class after your PR Card arrives c:I Applied under PEQ-W. Just waiting for my PR card
My only concern is when am i eligible to submit applcation under common_law for my GF?
hahaha Yah we are together. The thing is that i didnt change my Marital status yet since i completed my 1 year living together.Ok perf. Whew! I was worried for you for a sec there! lol. I don't know much about the PEQ-W pathway, but I think if you've made it to the point where you're just waiting on your card, there's probably no need to reach out to IRCC about your updated marital/relationship status.hahaha Yah we are together. The thing is that i didnt change my Marital status yet since i completed my 1 year living together.
What you suggest, After getting PR card should i should call IRCC and change my status as a "Common_Law' first then apply for her PR application ?
and should i call before getting Card for Marital status and after getting card then i should start process?
