Hello,

I am a Canadian Citizen. I would like for my parents to visit me from India. They would be staying a maximum of 2 months and not really longer than that. So in this case is it still better to opt for super visa or go with the regular visitor visa?
Does super visa really has a better acceptance rate than visitor visa?
On an average, how much does it cost per person for the super visa insurance which is needed during application submission?

If your parents are going to visit you every year or for a long time get a super visa. The Super Visa Insurance can be paid in installments and doesn't get activated unless your parents land in Canada. 200$ for two per for super visa insurance.

The Visitor Visa doesn't have insurance requirement but you cannot control the visa duration granted to you e.g. when i 1st visited in 2014, i was given a single entry visa valid only for one year. Next when i visited in 2015 i was given a multi entry visa till the expiry of my passport.

They wont be really visiting every year, may be just once or twice and and that too for a duration of month or two
Debating between super visa insurance fee vs high visitor visa denial stories
Both my parents get pension, have properties in their name and actively involved in community activities in India

My 2Cents... Go for Super Visa it gives your flexibility. Make a application strong enough I have a thread somewhere on what documents i used and it was approved. The documents for super visa and visitor are both same expect for in super visa you need to show insurance purchase from the date of arrival.

As long as you can prove strong ties i.e. Pension/Properties/Activities you should be good.

  • Specifically for parents/grandparents of Canadian citizens or PR holders.
  • Allows multi‑entry stays of up to 5 years per visit, valid for up to 10 years total.
  • Mandatory private medical insurance (min. CAD 100,000 coverage)..
  • Approval rate ~78–80 %, slightly higher than visitor visa—and less reliant on parents' ties, more on your status/income and their health
  • For a short two-month visit, a Visitor Visa is simpler and generally sufficient.
  • If you'd like greater certainty or flexibility for future visits (or worry about refusal risk), the Super Visa is stronger—but comes with extra costs and steps.
  • Super Visa: ~78–80 % approval overall.

Hi,Good day everyone.
Important Query:

Hi,I have applied for my Super Visa to canada in 2022 and I had undergone the Immigration Medical Examination as part of the application. They found a scar on my chest X ray and went for additional tests. All the results were negative and they issued a Super Visa along with a medical surveilance.Since then,I had not travelled to Canada.

Now,in August 2025,I am planning to travel to Canada for the first time .The question is ,do I need to undergo the Meedical Examination Again before I come to Canada for the first time as the Previous Medical Results were expired.

Kindly reply to the question as soon as possible.

Thank you so much!
