fingerprints submitted this afternoon, RCMP will process and do the necessary checks in 48-72hours and forward the results to IRCC, who will then take some time to update on the citizenship tracker. The guy who did my fingerprints told me that it's super common these days to get fingerprinted and is nothing to worry about- he'd gotten many appointment requests this afternoon as IRCC sends these out in batches.

what I do wish to understand is that why they didn't send these BG checks out earlier.. they're only now sending these out in batches for people submitted in March, while previously people would receive FP requests within a month post submission.

Location: Montreal
Application sent: March 16th
AOR: April 14th
Test invite: April 28th
Test: May 9th
Test marked completed: May 22nd
FP request: June 11th
FP submitted: June 11th
to be continued..

Hi, my wife has received an email today for FPs. Did your RCMP charge you for this?

I also received the FP request today. Did you directly go to rcmp or with the agencies who does the FPs?

what is the reason they gave for requesting fingerprints? sections 21 and/or 22 ?

received one with this as the reason - super worried now. like, what is going on?

I am planning to go to one of the agencies and have them send the results to my home address in Canada. I will later Fedex it to IRCC's address.
That way I am aware that it is not lost somewhere and can also review the results.

They are scaring me citing section 21 and/or 22. Scary

nothing to worry i got the same. section 21 is for criminality and 22 is for prohibitions. It doesn’t mean we are guilty or something it’s just they are doing a deeper check before making a decison.

But you don’t need to courier them. you can just raise the webform that you have submitted the fingerprints.

Yes, I want the fingerprint results sent to me. Then I will send the results to case processing center address listed.

You mean send a scanned copy of the results via web form?

Okay but agency will be rcmp accredited company. So they take fps and send it to rcmp and rcmp will check for any criminal record and then rcmp sends the results to ircc. We don’t have to do anything it . If we don’t get any updates later then we can ask the ircc agent or raise the webform regarding this.

The way I did it when applying for PR was - I got it mailed to my address and then sent it to IRCC

If they send it directly to IRCC, then I would be in dark for several weeks / months and don't know what is going on.

1. There is a Canada Post strike thing going on.
2. I will not be able to know for sure if they have sent it.
3. I will not be able to review the results.
4. I get anxiety all this while regarding this.

did they give you an option to send a copy of it to you (in case IRCC does not get it, you can forward your copy) ?

I don’t believe you have the option to have it mailed to you, unless I’m mistaken of course. The agencies are supposed to relay that info RCMP directly who then directly informs IRCC

Does anyone know if finger prints given during PR application about 5 years ago still good for Citizenship application? How does IRCC decide who to ask to give fingerprints?
