Hey guys , just wondering how long does it take to get back your passport after submission in Port of Spain ?
There have been no updates really. The live interpretation service at the university in Port of Spain was asked 2 weeks ago if it was ready to "resume services" at the Canada High Commission, but the person at the Canada High Commission didn't offer any details of when they would be back into operations. There are at least 3 couples (us among them) who recently had our files reviewed and were told we "still required an interview". We applied in Oct 2018.Hi, has anyone had any updates from Trinidad lately? We submitted in Sept 2019, were transferred to Mexico and the Port of Spain. We had to send in additional information in May 2021 and haven't heard anything since. If I go by this thread it seems like many people are still waiting, had anyone had luck and had some movement from this VO?
Oh wow.....I roll my eyes when I read someone complaining about not hearing anything and they applied in 2021....can't imagine applying in 2018 and still waiting. Best wishes for a response soon! There have been no updates really. Hi, just thought I would update that we received notification that my husband would be getting invited for an interview. We haven't been given more details, at this point they were asking us to confirm that he is eligible to travel to Port of Spain, i.e., fully vaccinated which thank goodness he is. So hopefully we don't have to wait too long for the interview to be scheduled. There have been no updates really. That's great news! Unfortunately for us, Trinidad and Tobago is not recognizing the Cuban vaccine, so any Cubans that are invited for an interview would have to quarantine for 2 weeks at great expense. Please tell us when you actually get the appointment date. I hope it is soon - very encouraging news!Hi, just thought I would update that we received notification that my husband would be getting invited for an interview. Hi, good news that we just heard that my husband's interview is scheduled for February, subject to any changes in the entry requirements due to covid. If it helps, he is from St Lucia and fully vaccinated with a T&T approved vaccine.Hi, just thought I would update that we received notification that my husband would be getting invited for an interview. My file is currently being processed by the POS office. Applied Aug 24. Haven't received an update since Dec 16 2024 which was biometrics submission. Requested GCMS notes in March and our file showed everything completed except Security (which wasn't started).Hi everyone,
I’m wondering if anyone here currently has a spousal sponsorship application being processed through the Port of Spain visa office, or if you’ve had one processed there recently.
My application has been at the Port of Spain office since January 2025, and I haven’t received any updates yet. I’m trying to get a sense of current processing times and what to expect, so any insights or shared timelines would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

I feel like the application was processing pretty quickly and then it hit a wall in December. Thanks so much for sharing your timeline — it’s really helpful to see where others are at in the process. It sounds like you’re pretty far along, so hopefully, you're nearing the finish line soon!
Our file is also with the POS office, and it's definitely been a lesson in patience. Let’s stay in touch and keep each other posted with any updates — it’s nice to connect with others going through the same wait.
Wishing you and your partner all the best as you move closer to being reunited!

Since then no updates and the tracker says Background check in progress ever since. My concern is this: should Background check take so long? Applicant has never lived anywhere other than home country and has not traveled much.
I'm not even sure whether or not our application is in Port of Spain because of the lack of information, but they are the processing office for my country of residence, so I assume it should be there. Should I send a web form asking for an update? Does that even help?
