Hello - did you receive medical request? We put my husband's application in October 22 and we never received medical request. Eligibility is complete and we are waiting on background check to be complete. How do we know if he needs to do medical? FYI - he's been in Canada on valid work permit for 3 years.

Hi. Do you have the pr tracker? https://ircc-tracker-suivi.apps.cic.gc.ca/en/login check there. It might already be completed since they might use the medical result from when he did the work permit.

hi thanhtam23, I started the application on the same day as yours and I see almost all the documents's dates (AOR, Biometrics, and PAL) are same but I am stuck on background check. Any Idea what is going on with my application?

Thanks. We submitted a webform and got a response. All's good, he doesn't need to do medicals, and a decision will be made shortly.

Dec 07 - received AOR (Sponsor's email)
Dec 16 - IRCC received police certificate from HK Police
JAN 10 - BGC completed
JAN 14 - Medical completed (exempted as PA has received IME less than a year ago when applying for the work permit, used the same medical report when applying)
JAN 16 - PA received Portal 1 email
JAN 16 - replied Portal 1
JAN 16 - Application tracker updated with COPR document number and expiration date.
JAN 21 - Called IRCC for PA’s address change
JAN 21 - Sent in another reply for Portal 1
JAN 22 - Received Portal 2 email
JAN 22 - Confirmed PA is in Canada and uploaded photo for PR card via the PR Portal
MAR 24 - Contacted IRCC for eCOPR requesting for status update

1. Her passport is expiring in Dec 2025 and have an OWP till then Dec 2025. We are getting a new Passport this week. Can she apply for new OWP based on new Passport?
2. Will she need a new Visa to enter Canada if she is planning for a short trip out of Country? I read somewhere that if you need a new passport, a new Visa is needed, but also OWP is taking 238 days which is almost 8 months?
What can be done in this scenario?

Any input is appreciated. Please help.
