Yes please.

I should have taken action earlier yea.

I asked my college but they didn’t respond about it so I didn’t get the authorization letter from them which makes my situation worse.

In that case it's possible you are already out of status. It's difficult to say.

It honestly may make the most sense for you you to return to your home country and apply for economic immigration from there. I would recommend you learn French to a CLB7 level so that you can qualify for the French category draws. You will also want to make sure you gain the required work experience.

I read the requirements yea, it has to be due to loss of financial resources due to circumstances out of control or loss of financial sponsor and resources.

Would it be okay to apply for the extension and the work permit today and then adding the additional documents later? such as enrolment letter and everything?

Yes my study permit extension was rejected, it said I am not enrolled that’s why it’s refused.

For the study permit extension, you really need to include all of the required documents with the initial application. IMO it is not Ok to include the enrollment letter later. This is a basic requirement.

For the destitute student work permit, you want to make sure all of the evidence to support your argument is included in the application you submit today. Assume you cannot add later.

Yea you are right, most probably out of status. But on the refusal letter it said My study permit will be expiring on 30th of April? So maybe I have just today remaining?

Yes, it's quite possible you still have today. You'll need to submit complete applications by EOD today for both the study permit extension and the destitute student work permit. The destitute student work permit can only be issued if the study permit extension is approved.

Could you clarify whether you have been studying full-time since 2023 until January2025? Your post is hard to decipher but it sounds as though you may have had other periods where you didn’t attend school or not full time. Claiming asylum has some very severe longterm consequences in Canada and abroad so would only do so if you have a very strong case.

This will be definitely the end of journey for you in Canada and Western countries for sure. This will not affect only you, it will probably affect all your family members (parents/siblings) if they will apply for any temporary residence permit in future whether in Canada or any Western country.

Your frankly don't have a case. Your refugee application will get rejected sooner than others. This is what is happening to international students applying for asylum just to stay in Canada. This is a stupid idea suggested by greedy immigration consultants/lawyers and/or social media people who are after views and comments.

!!Don't apply for asylum!!

If you love Canada and want to return, it is in your hands. Focus on learning French. You have a good chance to get a regular immigration through Francophone EE.

Pack your stuff and go back home. Don't regret it. This will only be temporary. You are still young, you can work hard and continue learning French. This way you will be able to save some money to apply for a regular immigration stream.

You can come back in maximum 1-2 years through an EE stream.

!!Don't apply for asylum!!

Sorry for being so direct and straightforward. I don't want you to go through a dead-end road that will have its consequences for the rest of your life.

Yes I agree. Considering they are applying the Last In First Out approach which means your application will be rejected as soon as they deem it as a non eligible case without even giving you any Work Permit.

Hello everyone, I hope everyone is having a good life.

I am an international student here in Canada, I came here in 2023 and my study permit is expiring tomorrow. I haven’t shared my situation with anyone yet so just writing it here.

I lost my grandfather last year and I couldn’t really study due to emotional stress and financial issues. I am not enrolled in college since January and now my study permit is expiring today.
Before that I lost my mother and grandmother in a year before covid. My life hasn’t really been nice to me and I haven’t been nice to my life too after that.

I am in an interfaith relationship from 4 years and I am a sikh and my gf is muslim. We can’t have a life in my country as it’s not allowed there and it’s getting worse there with religions.

If I go back to my country, all I will have is mental illness and difficulties and will not be able to marry someone I love and she is the only one after my father and sisters who cares about me.

I am a disappointment for real I know. I am thinking to claim refuge in Canada as it’s the only option that could save my life. Kindly please let me know if there is anything that could help me.

I hope you all keep smiling and shining.
Are you from country where there is civil war/conflict?. Are you able to show evidence that you or your common law partner would be subject to religious persecution and there is no internal flight alternative (meaning you would be at risk in all parts of the country). If yes, then you can apply for refugee. I would suggest seeking legal advice. Please do not listen to some members in this forum who said that you will be rejected quickly and be found not eligibe.

They are only dating at this point. It's been established they are not common law or married. I think this unfortunately weakens the case.

I agree on getting legal advice.

I wasn’t able to apply to extend it, just tried to do it now but couldn’t. It said the date should be greater than today to apply. So I need to apply for restoration asap and I tried some short term courses and I find one which is full time and dli and that’s FSL which is quite beneficial too, I just need to get Loa from them, hopefully I would get a reply from them tomorrow about it and will be able to apply for the study permit restoration after that. I have a question, if I apply for the restoration? it will be the same conditions as before such pgwp eligible and everything or it will be a new study permit with the new immigration rules? Kindly please let me know this.
Also let me know if you think the loa and everything could be helpful to restore the study permit status.

I’m from India and both Sikhs and Muslims are suffering, I am not sure if you have heard a news about a terror attack in one of the states there which has worsen things, as people from my state are trying to save Muslims because they are getting abused and getting their businesses destroyed due to the terror attack on religious sentiments. Not 100% but there are chances to be a war between Pakistan and India.

I appreciate it very much, I am really not in favour of doing it, I just tried to look for the options and I did find a French course which is short term but full time and from Dli College and I am thinking to do that to fill the gap till I get back to my College to graduate. Let me know what your opinion is about this.

I appreciate your time and straightforward response. I definitely need honest and just honest advice not the emotional. Thank you.

Yes at this point it is just going to be considered dating I think as I and her have not lived together for a year or so which makes it out of the common law partner criteria.

For an asylum claim you will have to show how you have been personally persecuted and show that there are no other safe places for you to live within India.

You are without status you can’t register and attend school. If your previous attempt at extending your SP was denied what has changed? If the goal is PGWP returning to complete your degree will not make you eligible for PGWP because you have not been studying full-time except the last semester.
