BOWP is only for the principal applicant. You can apply for a SOWP for your spouse while submitting your BOWP in the same account.
Thank you. As i mentioned I lost my job. So will I be eligible to apply SOWP for my spouse without NOC job?

Are you the primary applicant? If so, you need to have a qualifying job.

yes, I am the primary applicant. Do I need to have a qualifying job for BOWP as well?

No, not to apply for the BOWP. But you do in order for your spouse to qualify for a SOWP.

So for primary applicant and spouse single application is enough? Sorry I am so confused with the recent changes. I am the primary applicant and recently lost job. so am i eligible to apply bowp for me and my spouse?
Hi, We applied for the BOWP as a single application in July 2024.
I’m not sure if recent changes will affect the Bowp application process.

Hi,

So my question is under your PR Portal account, are there two different applications with two different application number or it is just one application?
Can you please post a screenshot with blurring your personal information?

Your help will be highly appreciated.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...mmon-law-partner-canada-open-work-permit.html

You can apply for an open work permit if you’re one of the following:

  • a spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner living in Canada who’s being sponsored for permanent residence
  • an accompanying dependent child of the principal applicant

Principal permanent residence applicants
When you apply for your open work permit, you must also be

  • included in an application for permanent residence
can one apply for open work permit who is not sponsered yet but is common law/married?

Is the spouse a Canadian citizen or PR?

yea spouse is : Canadian citizen
Post your question in Family class sponsorship section.
There is no BOWP for spouse of citizen.

But once the sponsorship application has been submitted and reach IRCC with "AOR", then they can apply for an OWP inside Canada.
(provided that the spouse can enter Canada visa eTA or TRV or already inside Canada with valid status)

Hi All,

Quick question to everyone,

if I declare spouse as not accompanying in my PR application.
and the scenarios is - my Spouse is with me right now in a Canada on SOWP.

Can I still apply for her OWP with my BOWP application even though she’s not included in my PR application?

Is it necessary for Spouse to be included as accompanying in PR application to apply for her OWP with my BOWP?

My CRS score is going down if I include her at this moment :-(
Unfortunately, even with your score going down you must tell the true; there is no excuse to lie. If you need her to work it is because she is in a relation with you. Besides the lack of honesty, and you taking advantage of the system, you would be in a high risk of being refused for misrepresentation.

People with real and honest profiles, are losing the opportunity to be called, as there are others making tricks to gain points, ending with refusals.

I will never know if you applied for PR with this asteric in your profile, but curious to know how it ended with all the recent filters IRCC has in place for this kind of cases.
