be careful traveling with SUNWING. they will ask for your PR, if you don't have it, you may live a nightmare

I just came back to Toronto from Cuba yesterday with RTD no PR and with sunwing!
Everything was so smooth and no one said or asked anything!

RTD was enough, no PR was asked. I flew with Air Canada. Always prefer companies that accepts RTDs such as Air Canada, Westjet or American Airlines for other destinations. Companies like Sunwing don't recognize or don't know what RTD is. Air Canada is aware what is RTD and they treat is like Canadian passport.
Goodday,
I wanted to ask if air canada give you tourist card form to fill out during the flight my situation ( with RTD NO PR )

Can you explain how was the process while boarding plane to cuba with rtd no pr i see sunwing give hard time ?!! And do you need visa prior to board the plane and what questions were ask on immigration cuba and while boarding the plane back

Thank you so much for answering. Maybe Sunwing will be problem for me next month on boarding time but i think we can fix it because i never heard anything about refused boarding the plane and cancelled ticket.
Can you update on what happened were you able to board plane without pr

A bit of an older thread, but wanted to ask if anyone recently went to Cuba with only their RTD (No PR, my application still being processed).

Based on everything here it seems like there won’t be a problem.

Tried contacting the embassy but didn’t get a very useful answer.

Process is same as Canadian passport holders? On the plane I will get a form for a tourist card, upon arrival I’ll hand this to immigration officials and they’ll allow entry? They may ask if I have PR but I’ll say no just the RTD but mention I have status as a protected person?

Same when exiting, shouldn’t be an issue but if gate agent asks for PR just mention I am a protected person and permitted to re-enter Canada?

You don’t need to have PR went in Feb 2025. Just fill the form before you even board the plane on your own and show it that’s all. They don’t even ask me any questions
