Can we do an upfront medical exam for PR even though an upfront medical exam is not required in 2024? Does an upfront medical help expedite the PR process ?

Yes and no. Upfront medical means when your file is looked at they will not send you an email reminding you to do the medicals. They will make progress. Most likely R10 completeness check will follow soon. That ... being said, no because sometimes things take time and if you are outside Canada, that means repeating medicals or having less number of days before you must land.

So it is a situation where if you do not mind doing another medical, do upfront and hope it speeds up things a bit. Otherwise wait for them to call out. If you are in canada, obviously doing upfront makes the most sense. because your medical is unlikly to expire.

Thanks so much for the prompt response. I am inland....My spouse and kids are outland... The kids (both younger than 9 years ) dont need medicals right ?

They do need medical... "When" is the question but they do. Because your PR application will not be decided without it. All your family members need medical. Even if they are not even included in your application.

Yes, they will be included in the application. But for the kids, we need medicals too?

So, again, given our condition, what will your suggestion be? We badly need to expedite the process of pr application...landing at later time is no issue. Do the upfront medicals both for me inland and family outland ?

IMHO, all of you go for upfront medical.

I called IRCC for that exact reason last week before submitting my application. The helpline worker told me to just wait for instructions. The website does say that if you do not follow their instructions it may result in refusal... so i decided to listen to the worker and not do an upfront medical (I'm also inland).

The website says that PR applicants are NOT REQUIRED...It does not say PR Applicants SHOULD NOT........... But we know that at a later stage, it will definitely be required. So, submitting it early should not lead to refusal at least.

i know that. You asked a question, I gave you my answer from the IRCC helpline worker. Whether you want to do it upfront or not is your call. Not mine.
