I just have a question,
I am sponsored before by my common law partner, my application was received by CIC on January 2021 and I got my PR on Nov 2021. But the relationship didn't work out. I am recently married and wanted to sponsor my husband, when am I able to sponsor him? Thank you for the response.

You have to wait five years. So the earliest you can submit the application is Nov 2026.

"The five years is counted back from the day on which the sponsorship application – as part of a complete application package – is received by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)."I saw this, so does it mean I can sponsor my husband by January 2026?

Five-year sponsorship bar [R130(3)]
A person who became a permanent resident or a Canadian citizen after being sponsored as spouse, common-law partner or conjugal partner is barred from sponsoring a spouse or partner within five years of becoming a permanent resident, even if they acquired citizenship during that period. The five years is counted back from the day on which the sponsorship application – as part of a complete application package – is received by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

this is from the canada website. I just wanted to make sure that I understand it correctly

No. Please read again. In detail. They are taking about the date on which you are going to submit the new application to sponsor your new spouse. So still November 2026.

Yes, that is the rule. So again, earliest you can submit the application is Nov 2026.

and also, I cannot sponsor anyone here? Cause I am pregnant, and I don't have any family member here in Canada, so there's no other way I can sponsor ?

So I can just submit all of the paper on NOVEMBER? Not on January

Yes, make sure it is after five years have passed from your landing date. So if you landed on the 14th of the month then wait until the 15th at least to submit.

That's correct.

If your spouse wants to immigrate sooner, they would need to qualify on their own through a program like Express Entry.

Okay, thank you. Another question, if I am on my maternity leave, am I able to be a qualified sponsor?
