How long unttil we get the approval letter? Alberta Health Services said that we need the approval letter. So far All we have gotten is a confirmation email saying that our application has been confirmed and it still in progress. I am pregnant and in need of health insurance.

Do you mean AIP? That typically comes at the end of the process.

What is AIP? They said if I can provide at least the first stage of approval. I have submitted my application on January this year.

AIP is generally referred to as first stage approval. Wait for others to comment on expected timing. It will be an estimated since each application is unique.

People need to consider whether they are entitled to provincial healthcare before getting pregnant and coming to Canada as a visitor. Sadly you will likely have to pay out of pocket until your get AIP or return home to receive healthcare.

I agree. This was a learned lesson for us! Luckily, my husband's job might cover it. Cross fingers for us. Also, I was told that we qualify for a one time Alberta health insurance for 6 months upon entering Canada since my husband is a permanent resident here. Anyhow, Thank you for your response :)
