Hello Experts
My wife and I with four kids under 14 years old landed in July 4th, 2008, as we became permanent residence in Canada. Our PR cards is due to expire in 24th, July 2013 (we have different expiry dates but close one in 24th, July 2013).
My wife and I with one of the kids meet the days of under 1095 days of absence( meet more than 730 days of living in Canada) as we have entered Canada few times in the last 5 years but the other three kids are exceeding the 1095 by 3 days, as they are 1098 . since July 2011 we are in Canada

My questions
- Do I have to attach the passports for my kids a long with the application or only I need their birth certificate and school reports! And attach both my wife and my passport page copies (All my kids under 14 years old)
- Does these 3 days affect our application for renewal as a family!

Thanks a lot for answering my questions :D

Please can someone answer me ..... its urgent. as I am preparing the applications

Are all of your family in Canada now? If so, wait until you all meet the residency obligation (even 3 days does affect you and family PR status in Canada) and then renew the PR cards. For renewal, you have to send copies of your passport for the last 5 years and notice of assessments of last 5 years. Read the guidelines for a complete list of supporting document.

Thanks Steaky for your reply I have read the guidelines

- Yes all my family here in Canada since 22nd July , 2011 all my kids currently enrolled in the school for the last 2 years and they have their report cards,

- we have landed in 4th, July 2008 , spent 2 weeks and then went back to Dubai, then my family came in 22nd july 2011 so do you think waiting till 22nd july 2013 will sort out the problem and we will meet residency obligation ??

- do I have to submit all passports copies including my kids passports or my wife and my passport only !!

If it was me, I would wait to apply end of this month (29 July 2013). I think they need the passport copies of every member of the family. I might be wrong. Hope someone who have similar experience can share their experience with you.

Agreed, you should wait until end of July when the whole family meets the residency requirements.

You're lucky that they let you in after being outside Canada for more than three years, and NOT fulfilling the residency requirement in the first five years of your PR (from July 4 2008 to July 4 2013).

I agree with Leon and Steaky that you should wait until you and your family ALL satisfy the residency requirements within the last five years (from the date you apply). They will only consider the last five years from the day you apply for renewal, so if you have been in Canada since 22 July 2011 without being absent for even A SINGLE DAY, then the earliest that you should even consider of applying for renewal would be July 24 or July 25.

So if you apply, say, on July 25, then they will consider the period between July 25 2008 and July 25 2013, and if you have at least 731 days within this period, you're safe. But it's always good to give it a few weeks buffer, so wait until around August 15ish before you apply for PR card renewal (and try not to leave Canada at all until your PR card gets renewed).

My minor children are currently OUT of canada and pr cards will expire in few months but I am in Canada, can i renew their pr cards? They have met the required residency days. Thanks!

I believe answered elsewhere. They need to apply from within Canada. Get them a PRTD.

Apply PRTD from outside as long as they meet their RO.
