Eligibility of foreign work experience in FSW program

Hi Everyone.

Here , I would like to ask you all that I got the trade certification in Electrician trade by challenging the exam with Indian work experience of 13 years. So , I have a doubt that Can, I claim the 50 points for PR by using this certification or Do I need to work as an Electrician in Canada for one year since currently I am working as a Electronics Test technician for last two years, which does not need any certification by government.

Kindly Help me.

You need a provincial or Red Seal license to count the 50 points. Working in Canada is not the only requirement so look at the licensing requirements for the province you want to live in. Your job responsibilities match the NOC.

First of all thank you so much for your valuable reply. I have already attain the license for Ontario region. I am just wondering about my PR application that whether I am eligible for federal skill trade program or not as I have to submit my PR application.

So you have a Red Seal as an electrician? If so you can count the 50 points. Eligibility for trade program depends on your NOC.

Yes I have the license. and this is my NOC code is 309A ( Electrician and Construction Maintenance ). In fact, the relevant experience , which I have , is from my home country. That is why I was in dilemma regarding my eligibility for PR. As in my approval letter it is clearly mentioned that after passing the exam you are eligible for work. However, I was confused regarding PR points claimant. But all thanks to you as Now I am feeling bit relaxed.
