6 MONTHS RESIDENCE RENEWAL ON VISIT VISA

Hi everyone,

I am on visit visa to Canada.

As per the applicable law, I have to leave Canada within 6 months though my visit visa expiration is in 2027.

I was wondering what is the easiest way to extend my duration after the expiry of 6 months?.

Any one with relevant experience, please share here.

If I get a US Visa and exit and then enter to Canada, does this renew the 6 months duration?.

You can try to extend it online. Technically if you have a US visa you can try and leave and reenter but you could be refused entry. Like the extension request you also aren’t guaranteed another 6 months. You will need to show why you need to visit Canada for longer and proof that you have enough savings so that visiting Canada is feasible and makes sense. For young working age people it is hard to justify long visits unless you have proof for example that you are travelling throughout Canada or North America and have an specific itinerary and the savings to pay for all your travel.

If you are trying to find employment the economy has changed since last year and there is a very large number of international students and newcomers looking for jobs so getting a job and getting a WP will be difficult except in a few select industries like healthcare.
