Passport Validity

Hello everyone,

I applied for TRV online (2 Year Closed Work Permit from Colombia) ON December 6, 2022.
My passport will expire on Sept 1st 2025.

Once I get the Passport Request Letter, Will the Canadian Embassy in Bogotá stamp my passport if the validity of my passport is less than the 2 years on the work permit application?
Will I have to get a new passport or will my current passport will do just fine?

Yes, but maximum validity of TRV will be to date of your passport.

It doesn't matter if my work permit application is for 2 years? They'll just issue it until my passport expiry date which is Sept 2025?

I guess once I'm in Canada, I'll just renew my passport and extend my work permit?

I admit I do not know about that part. Frankly it would be far better for you to renew your passport in advance. I do know that TRVs won't be inserted for validity dates longer than that of the passport.

Exactly, that's my point, the work permit date will not be past my passport validity. Do I send them both passports once I get the PASSPORT REQUEST?

What do you mean both passports? If you have a new passport when the passport request letter, send that. You won't need to send the old passport. If you want, you can send a photocopy of the old passport and/or a note saying this is your new passport; although I doubt it's necessary, it won't hurt.

They'll figure this out, you're not the first person to have renewed a passport.
