Hi there,

I haven't found the answer yet so I'm trying my luck.

I am studying Marketing (2 year program that started in January 2023) at George Brown College in Toronto.
I am inside of Canada. Due to a fire at the business building my first 2 semesters were online. For my 3rd semester I can choose online and in-person classes.

Now, a friend of mine said that I have to have 50% in person classes to be eligible for PGWP. Another friend said I can study all 4 semesters online as long as I maintain full-time status and complete the program.

I went to the Canada.ca website but the info on there is a bit confusing with lock-in date and so forth..

Does somebody have a clear answer? Any help would be highly appreciated! Thank you guys! :)

Nick

Quoting the information on the IRCC website:

"Until August 31, 2023, the time you spend studying online from within Canada still counts toward the length of your PGWP.
Starting September 1, 2023, you must complete 50% of your program in-class in Canada."

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...study-canada/work/after-graduation/about.html

I would strongly suggest you do the Fall (Sept 2023) and Winter (Jan 2024) semester in-person. It's pretty clear on the website

Hey, thanks a lot for the answer! It makes sense what you say as it's on the website.

I just have an issue with the lock-in date on the website. Let's say, in September, the last semester of my program would start. Then I wouldn't be able to complete 50% of my studies in class in person.
I asked the college and they said it's fine as long as I'm a full time student but everyone says a different thing..
The information is clear on the website, but if you're in a scenario like me, it's not 100% clear

Isn't your program 4 semesters long? If you started in Jan 2023, you're in your 2nd semester right now isn't it? Regardless, if you have an option of in-person classes I'd suggest you take it.
