Naa dont send any originals
Incase of name changes on the Indian passport in my opinion you do not need an affidavit. Because the last held Indian passport would be be same as on the Canadian passport. If info on the Indian passport differs vs Canadian one e.g. name, PoB etc. then affidavit is required.
of course India passport has to be sent (original) :)

I spoke to BLS on phone.. Original Indian passport is required to be sent (as that gets surrendered) and only self attested copies of other documents.. of course, application form with photo (and hand signatures) and demand draft are originals too..
So canadian Passport is not needed as original, only self attested copy. I think they need to fix their checklist then, as they mention original canadian passport in the checklist

that is for in person submission. The checklist is common for both mail in / walk in.

Abbas bhai one question
I came to know BLS's new tactic to make some courier money.
If you go as walkin with appointment, for OCI application submission, they will keep your SC with them. Just to slap you with a courier fee to return this 1 paper in an envelop to you. Later the OCI comes in another envelop.

BUT

If you send it via postal application, then you don't need to send the original SC as well as you DON"T need to pay for the return courier fee of the SC.

Is this accurate info?

In my case I have 3 applications for the family so I am thinking if I go in person they will charge me 90$ extra for return of SC. I might as well pay 30$ only for postal submission of all applications together. At least I will save 60$. Does this make sense? Am I missing something there?

Quick question: I don't see any appointment at BLS Brampton/Toronto for next couple of weeks, are they entertaining walk-in applications? and anyone can share experience for walk-in submission

I think that happens when one is submitting in person and BLS will try and milk you with every possible trick up their sleeve, which includes keeping Indian passports and surrender certificate and returning it with a separate courier sighting these are original documents and cannot be picked up in person (even though one would collected their cancelled Indian passport and surrender certificate a week ago from the BLS center)

If you are sending the application via Purolator then BLS is already making money on it, so they wont be bothered for the additional photographs or submitting originals etc

the only difference being when there is number of applications from one family. I got it confirmed from the BLS call center then when it comes to Postal applications you can send multiple family member apps in one packet so one courier fee. But for return they insist every individual pays separately for the courier so 30$ X Family members.
