Congratulations @Lolan! :) You and us got our OPRs on the same day :) How is your passport stamping going? In China, it takes 6 weeks. How long does it take in Russia these days?
Wow, that's great, I didn't realize that) I sent my passport 4 days ago, and it hasn't reached the VAC yet. Since I live in Siberia, it takes longer for my passport to be delivered, because I need it to travel all through the country to get to the VAC. Usually, it takes around 2 weeks for your passport to be stamped if you live in Moscow, but for me, it's around 3-4 weeks.
6 weeks is a lot, I thought in China it would take around a week. Do you have the Embassy of Canada in China? If not, I understand why it can take so long to stamp your passport. The thing is, if you're from Russia, your passport will be stamped in Poland. Although we have the Embassy of Canada in Russia, we still can't stamp our passports in here. I can guess this is because of the lack of diplomats and workers in the Embassy and Consulates of Canada in Russia, but still, that's how it works in Russia.
I hope your passport comes back to you soon.
Thank you

It won't increase your chances of being approved, as such. You can ask for a refund in case you need this money back.

I just wanted to show im a genuine student by showing intent of living in a place where its only students. I wanted to eliminate any doubts they could have about me by showing how much invested I am into pursuing my education. I figured it would be a good strategy.

Hey @Lolan! :) Thanks for your reply! Yes, of course, there is the Embassy of Canada in Beijing and two consulates in Shanghai and Guangzhou. Technically, the VAC had told me that it would take 4 weeks for passports to be stamped at the Canadian Embassy + two weeks for the package delivery back and forth and VAC processing of it. Our passports are also only on their way to the embassy, which is one week gone from the date we received our approval and sent our passports. We did not anticipate the stamping process to be so long. But now we know the reason for our application taking so long. It all makes sense now.

2 weeks in Moscow sounds reasonable enough, especially, yes, taking into consideration that they have to fly the passports to Poland and back. In Canada, it also takes 2 weeks for passports to be stamped.

Oh, well! Let us wait some more! Let me know how it goes ;)

Hey @AnonymousQuin23! Criminality and info sharing (which criminality for Five Eye countries) is the first thing an application goes through. It is a doorway for an application to be opened and considered for review. And it means just that: you have passed your background check. There is no other information on your GCMS Notes because your file hasn't started to be processed yet. There won't be any more information until your file is processed and the final decision is made. To be absolutely frank with you, ordering GCMS Notes for a SP application any time until after the rejection (the only reason you really need them) is a waste of time and money. Don't pay attention to them as of now. Hope you won't need them at all in the future! Good luck to you! :)
Thank you. Its just been too long. Its been over 9 weeks and what your saying means they haven’t even started looking at it yet.

Got you thank you so much. May I ask you when did eligibility start in your 14 weeks of waiting ? Eligibility still shows as not started on tracker on my end here.

Please, remind me, which country did you apply from? Are you s single applicant?
I’m applying from Egypt where a lot of study permit applicants have already gotten their permits with less than a month. Non-sds. A single applicant but my program has a co-op semester so Imm applying for a work permit along with a study permit.

I'd say anything around 10-14 weeks is still "normal", how long have you been waiting?
