Hi! I'm seeking to immigrate to Canada and recently learned I might be eligible to apply under the Indian Act. But I have some questions:

Firstly, is there any percentage of Native American that I have to be in order to apply?

How does this essentially work? Would I be considered a citizen after (be able to find work and such)?

I have a bit of native american in me from my understanding, but does it have to be my entire family?

I'm sure I'll have more questions but this is what I have for now. If anyone has any information that would be great!

Here's the USA's statement on what is described as corresponding legislation.

Hey! Thanks for the reply!

But this looks to be Canada to the US.

I'm looking to immigrate from the US to Canada. I wasn't sure if the situations were the same but I did see this.
It's a two-way treaty so one assumes that "corresponding legislation" makes the requirements reciprocal. Feel free to search for the Canadian corresponding law.

Are you considered native American by the US government?
